Hi everybody,
Welcome back to Madison! I hope you had a wonderful summer and now you're ready to get back to school and learning! Yippeee!
My summer vacation was fantastic. I went camping, hiking, bicycling, and I also did some reading and, can you believe it, studying! One thing I learned was how to create a blog, and I thought it would be fun for all of us to try. So, the plan is for everybody to create his or her own blog. In our first post on your blogs, we will introduce ourselves to each other. So here goes....... I'm going to tell you about myself.
You already know my name is Ms. Truax. I grew up in Corvallis, Oregon. When I was a kid, I really loved horses, skiing and reading. Here's a picture of me on a horse when I was about fourteen years old. (You can tell that my hair wasn't always white.)
Now I don't ride horses much anymore, but I still love skiing. Here's a picture of me skiing at Crater Lake last winter.

I have two daughters, Joanna and Rebecca. Joanna lives in San Francisco where she is going to school to become a nurse midwife. Rebecca lives in Portland where she works as a silversmith and plays on a roller derby team.
Here's a photo of Rebecca skating in a roller derby bout. She's the one on the right. It is a very rough and tumble sport but quite exciting to watch. The girls have to wear elbow pads, knee pads, mouth guards and helmets to minimize injuries. It's a physical contact sport where the team is trying to push the opposite team out of the way, so their point person (the jammer) can get through the pack and make points. All this is done on roller skates.
Here's a photo of my older daughter Joanna with her dog Porter on a beach in California.

Hi Ann :)
I, too, was raised in Corvallis. And as a child I could not afford a horse, but lived vicariously through the ones boarded at the Oregon State Horse Barns. Everyday that I could I would make my trek to the barns to pet the horses as they hung their heads over their dutch doors. They would see me coming and start nickering.
One of my favorites was Mighty Moe. A gorgeous white horse. He was a sweet and lovable clown. He was so laid back and easy going.
Imagine my surprise when I went and watched a horse show at the Benton County Fairgrounds and there was my buddy, Moe, easily taking jump after jump! He was a pro! I was amazed and so proud of him.
I got to enjoy him and pretend he was mine and he got such love and petting from me.
Now I am 58 and a lot of years have passed. I still have not forgotten Moe. This morning I thought I would get on the computer and put in "Truax, Horse, Corvallis." And there, to my astonishment, was my old friend, Moe!
Thank You for sharing your picture!
I loved him,
Linda MacIntyre
