Hello to my students!

Hi everybody,

Welcome back to Madison! I hope you had a wonderful summer and now you're ready to get back to school and learning! Yippeee!

My summer vacation was fantastic. I went camping, hiking, bicycling, and I also did some reading and, can you believe it, studying! One thing I learned was how to create a blog, and I thought it would be fun for all of us to try. So, the plan is for everybody to create his or her own blog. In our first post on your blogs, we will introduce ourselves to each other. So here goes....... I'm going to tell you about myself.

You already know my name is Ms. Truax. I grew up in Corvallis, Oregon. When I was a kid, I really loved horses, skiing and reading. Here's a picture of me on a horse when I was about fourteen years old. (You can tell that my hair wasn't always white.)
Now I don't ride horses much anymore, but I still love skiing. Here's a picture of me skiing at Crater Lake last winter.

I have two daughters, Joanna and Rebecca. Joanna lives in San Francisco where she is going to school to become a nurse midwife. Rebecca lives in Portland where she works as a silversmith and plays on a roller derby team.

Here's a photo of Rebecca skating in a roller derby bout. She's the one on the right. It is a very rough and tumble sport but quite exciting to watch. The girls have to wear elbow pads, knee pads, mouth guards and helmets to minimize injuries. It's a physical contact sport where the team is trying to push the opposite team out of the way, so their point person (the jammer) can get through the pack and make points. All this is done on roller skates.

Here's a photo of my older daughter Joanna with her dog Porter on a beach in California.

Here they are together. Rebecca is 26 years old and Joanna is 29. You can tell I'm very proud of them!

I live with two dogs and one cat. Here's a photo of my dogs, Sophie and Haley.............

I've been very lucky to have so many wonderful students over the years. Here are pictures of some of my former students:

Alright, now it's your turn to try a blog. Tell us about what you love, tell us about your family, tell us about a trip you've taken, tell us about sports you like, tell us about music you listen to or books you've read, tell us whatever you want to share.
